The window will go up normally (other automatically because you fully pressed the switch), or incrementally (because you slightly pressed the switch). And if the leading top edge of a closing window triggers the anti-trap feature because of an arm, hand, stick, kids neck, etc, it'll automatically reverse and go down all the way.

On the e46 the heated rear window and door mirrors switched on automatically when starting in cold weather. You can visibly see steam coming of the heated mirrors when they are working. In the interests of progress BMW have not included this useful feature on the e90.
